Photographers
Stan Carpenter started his career as a medical photographer, working 10 years for LSU Medical School in Shreveport, LA. Stan was born in Beaumont, TX and is a graduate of Fair Park High in Shreveport. He returned to Texas to attend Stephen F. Austin University where he received a BA in Photography. Stan has worked as a free-lance photographer since 1998.
Kathryn Gaiennie is a Shreveport Wedding and portrait photographer having begun her business in 1980. Kathryn graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Magazine Journalism and a minor in Photographic Design. In her work, Kathryn tries to create images that go beyond the ordinary. She combines her keen interest in the interplay of highlight and shadow with her knowledge of the history of the photographic arts.
Philip Gould is a documentary/architecture photographer who has made Louisiana his home all his adult life. Gould has published numerous books on Louisiana and abroad, including The World of William Joyce. His most recent book is on architecture and life in French Train Stations, published in France. Gould's photographs comprise one of the largest private archives on Louisiana subjects. He has two teenage sons.
Talbot Hopkins is a professional artist who has been painting and drawing portraits and still lifes for the past twenty years. her works are done in graphite pencil, sanguine Conte' crayon, watercolor, pastel and oil. Talbot's portraits can be found in homes across the country. In addition to being a painter, she is a photographer. She resides in Shreveport with her husband, Robert, and son, Jett Trudeau.
Mike Silva has worked for The Shreveport Times as a photojournalist for 26 years. Trained at Stephen F. Austin State University, BA in photojournalism, his portrait work recently won best of show and first place at Hubbard Museum of the American West's annual photography show. He says that photographing the Katrina evacuees was a very emotional experience. "I could see the pain in their eyes."
